Mela Cooke

1200x900 Early Mornings 1

About Mela Cooke:

I work almost entirely in bronze as I find the process of sculpting in clay (the precursor to casting in bronze) enables me to get great definition & subtlety. I love the timelessness of bronze and the fact that bronze sculptures will endure for centuries.

I worked as a physio for many years & I think that gave me a great appreciation of the human body and a love of working in three dimensions.

I am currently working on a series of ‘women in action’ and the challenge for me is always to imbue my sculptures with the character & soul of my subject.
